Labs & Lectures 2012

NB:  This is the archived webpage for Summer 2012.   Please note that all the following content will likely be updated each year.

 

The lecture material for Summer 2012 course will be changing substantially from previous years – we expect to cover most if no tall of the same material, but in a different order and more tightly integrated with hands-on activities with our electronics kits.   New material will be posted prior to each lecture.

10hr Machine Shop Course

 

A few things to read before getting to the machine shop:

1. Measuring Tools   – digital calipers,  reading the scale on vernier calipers, as well as using  micrometers
2. Engineering Drawings – learning to read and recognize well and poorly-dimensioned drawings.  (notes from Ernie Blanco at MIT)

4. Intro lecture on Design in Solidworks and OMAX waterjet cutting

1.  10Hr Schedule Info:

• The course is run on two afternoons two afternoons, from 12 – 5pm.   These are typically Mon/Wed, Wed/Fri, or Fri/Mon, depending on your group’s schedule.
• You will only do the course during one of these sessions.  The schedule is tight, so please let us know if there are any conflicts with the proposed times.
• There is some advantage to having at least some people do it earlier rather than later so that there is some hands-on team knowledge about machining during the design phase, so I will try to spread teams out over all the sessions.
