    August 01, 2013 -> No laser cutter from 7:30am to 3:30pm because of compressed air maintenance in the building.

    July 12, 2013 ->

    • New rule from Monday July 15th: Teams will clean up the shop corner in Hebb 42
    • Starting with team #1 and then as shown in the Calendar, teams will collectively, and daily
    1. put all tools back where they belong, sort drill bits and taps back into stands, put batteries in chargers
    2. use the vacuum to clean the drill press and the mini lathe (if you vacuum up tool bits or wrenches by accident, please tell us!)
    3. use hand broom, dust bin and large broom to clean all four workbenches and the surrounding floors

    This should be done first thing in the morning, as soon as all team members are in. Do it as a team, it should not take more than 5 minutes.

    • Feel free to install the 3D printer software on your computer
    • Version for Windows
    • Version for Mac
    • Install, then bring your computer to one of our 3D printers, plug it in, and initialize the printer to activate the software.  After you have done that, you’ll be able to open your STL files and get estimates for printing time on your own computer, without 3D printer attached.
    • When attaching the printer for the first time, open the device manager, and point the “update driver” function to the folder in the windows program directory that was created by the installation (it’s called “UP”). That will properly install the driver for the printer.

    • This photo shows how to charge the white & flat (NiMH, or nickel metal hydrid) battery packs:

    1. set charger to 0.9A charge current, then plug it in
    2. insert the temperature sensor somewhere under the shrink wrap as shown
    3. do not charge longer than two hours, or over night
