Description

Please join us for a day of information about the UBC Engineering Physics Program, talking one-on-one with current students and alumni, viewing ongoing projects, and Lab Tours of our facilities, including:

Boreal Genomics cancer detection startup

UBC’s Quantum Matter Institute and AMPEL research facility

UBC Engineering Design Centre and Student Competition Teams

Who can Attend

Students in grades 10, 11, 12  who excel in science and who would benefit from early exposure to careers in engineering and science.   Parents and siblings are welcome to attend.   

High-school teachers and counsellors interested in learning more about what UBC can offer their most talented students.

UBC Engineering Physics (EngPhys) is a highly interdisciplinary program designed to fulfill the needs of those driven by a passion for invention, scientific curiosity, and creativity. Typical students in EngPhys are bright, innovative, have a strong sense of adventure and a desire to turn their ideas into real science and technology advances. Students in EngPhys obtain the equivalent of an honours physics degree plus a strong background in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.  

 

Students may use a core of technical elective courses to obtain specialized training in areas such as Biophysics, Bioengineering, Applied Math, Astronomy, Project Management, Earth and Ocean Sciences, Alternative Energy, Materials Engineering, and more. Students graduating from this program go on to industry engineering work, research, commerce, as well as graduate studies at top schools such as Stanford, MIT, CalTech, Harvard and others, all of whom recognize the strength of our program. Due to the breadth of their expertise, UBC EngPhys alumni hold executive and founding roles in many of BC’s high tech companies.

 

UBC Engineering Physics is looking for talented and physics-motivated high school students to attend an orientation event where they can find out more about our program as well as career opportunities in Engineering Physics.
